Historic Preservation
Under a long-term lease with the Marin Municipal Water District, we are committed to maintaining and preserving the historic Marin Stables as one of the only remaining public facilities in Marin. The facility is currently under a phased restoration program to bring the facility up to current code while maintaining the historic flavor and peaceful presence in Fairfax. Our site restoration will employ green building materials to bring riparian and rainwater runoff retention into alignment with best conservation practices.
Community Outreach
We provide public outreach in the form of educational, therapeutic and mentoring programs at no cost for adults and children.
These programs include:
• Nature Deficit Disorder education for underserved California Classrooms
• Provides ongoing continual education for school children along with water district users about horses and the environment
• Equine assisted therapy programs which support Marin residents
• Educational programs for Girl Scouts & Cub Scouts
• Programs for Developmentally Disabled Adults & Seniors
• Each Christmas, MS&T participates in the Adopt A Family program
• Joint program with Marin Municipal Water District to move invasive plant life while educating public on flora and fauna
Our programs can be life changing, powerful experiences for young and old, individuals and families and are provided at no cost to participants. Our programs with schools and other youth agencies promote healthy life choices, a love of the outdoors and environmental stewardship. If you are an educator and are interested in one of our programs, please email us at marin.stables@gmail.com.
Environmental Stewardship
Marin Stables fosters “green” animal husbandry and stabling practices. 100% of the horse manure is recycled for local gardens or soil material. Our program assists Marin Municipal Water District with local trail maintenance and invasive species control with work parties of volunteers several times throughout the year.
