Our Mission

Marin Stables & Trails, Inc., is a 501(c)3 non-profit public benefit corporation that was organized in 2005 to preserve historic Marin Stables, provide community outreach programs to benefit and educate all socio-economic groups and assist MMWD in maintaining Watershed trails and habitats. We rely on your tax deductible contributions to accomplish our mission!

Connie Berto | President (Emeritus)

Connie was actively involved in community horse access and safety throughout Marin County. She was a former Director of the Marin Horse Council and an active Endurance Rider who was close to achieving 5,000 miles with her horse.

Karen Hannah | Director

Karen is an avid horseman and currently riding out of Fairfax, Ca. Karen is an Accountant for a San Francisco based company, originally from Atlanta,GA and has been a Bay Area resident since 1989. She has been riding since she was 7 years old, worked as an instructor’s assistant at a barn in Atlanta GA and for the Red Barn at Stanford University. Competed in Hunter/Jumper Shows and ridden trails in Palo Alto, Oakland Hills and now in Marin County.

Heidi Craig | Director & Social Media Chair

Heidi is a retired hunter/jumper trainer and polo player who pioneered a highly successful riding school and summer camp in Aspen, CO. A Marin County native who grew up at Circle V (aka. Baywood Canyon) in Fairfax, she works in marketing and Real Estate and can be found any day of the week riding the trails on her trusty old ranch horse, Drifter.

Kathy Risso | Finance Manager

Kathy is a Financial Manager for a local software company. She is currently the Treasurer for MS&T and formerly served as Treasurer for the Marin Horse Council for many years, she participates in Trail Riding and Natural Horsemanship.

John Moren | Director

John Moren began managing marinas/harbors after working as a scuba instructor and dive boat captain. He has managed marinas/harbors/boat yards in Florida, West Indies, Abu Dhabi UAE, now directs operations for two marinas/harbors with emergency rescue capabilities in the Bay and Coastal waters. He has been an avid horse lover all of his life, currently spends much of his off-time with his beautiful 4 year old palomino quarter horse, Kahuna.

Ann Burke | Secretary

Ann is a retired Manager for a National Wholesale hand-made jewelry company. She has also served on the Marin Horse Council as Secretary and President, the Parent Advisory Board at Marin Catholic High School and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
